KFC Productivity training program
Given the need for the flower industry to focus on enhancing efficiency, throughout the supply chain to counter the escalating cost of production, KFC will be rolling out its productivity training program in July 2010.
Details of which will follow. It will target Chief executives, senior and mid level managers, internal auditors as well as operational staff.
The focus will be on Productivity Tools.

Carbon footprint standard
Kenya Flower council participated in a workshop where it was given an opportunity to prepare the countries in the EAC region to comment and make a substantial influence on the development of the international standard (S) for carbon footprint(iso) /CD 14067 parts one and 2), currently developed within. ISO (ISO/TC 207/SC 7/WG 2)
The standard is based on life cycle analysis. KFC proposal well supported by the region is to include the per capita emission factor with the formulation. The carbon footprint index process of the standard developed should take about a year.
KFC silver certification
Bilashaka Flowers limited a KFC member qualified for the KFC Silver certificate for the first time. The farm is located at Moi North lake road in Naivasha where since 2001 they started producing roses under ultra modern conditions following European standards. The farm has a productive team under Mr. Jozef Zuurbier, the Managing Director.

Successful market penetration into Japan
Kenyan and Japanese companies are partnering constituting a large leap in business interactions between Kenya and Japan. There has been Successful penetration of Kenyan products into the Japanese market.
According to Japan External Trade organization (JETRO)’ s two Japanese companies in the flower and tea sector have started doing business with Kenya taking advantage of JETRO’s Development and Import Scheme. Branded Kenyan flowers are currently being sold in a number of outlets in Japan

SIBFLOWERS 2010 (11-14 August 2010)
ITE Siberian Fair will be held from 11 -14 of August 2010 in Novosibirsk. This is the largest specialized exhibition in Asian part of Russia FLOWERS, GARDENS and PARKS of SIBERIA.
