Industry regulation, licencing & marketing under the devolved Government

Under the new system of Government, functions of the Ministry of Agriculture have been devolved to the County Governments with exception of Policy function. This scenario has presented a number of challenges on the implementation and coordination of these functions. Industry stakeholders have been holding meetings to engage both levels of Government to ensure a smooth transition of these functions to the County Governments.

The industry will very soon be meeting Governors of 15 counties where the flower industry is active. This meeting presents an opportunity for the industry to address some of the current inefficiencies and also to make its case to the Governors and lay the ground work for engaging the Senate, members of county assemblies and parliament.

KFC, with the help of a committee drawn from industry stakeholders is coordinating these activities.
