The EAC EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) negotiation meeting for the Technical experts and Senior officials will take place on 24th to 27th March in Nairobi Kenya.
- Rules of Origin
- EU proposed texts on cumulation and asymmetry
- Outstanding product specific rules
- EU’s proposals on Domestic Support and Export Subsidies.
In preparation of the above and to undertake the necessary consultations on the outstanding issues and prepare country position there will be a stakeholder consultation meeting on March 19, 2014 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade offices. The Kenya Flower Council will be represented in the meeting.
The deadline to sign the EAC EU Economic Partnership agreement is October first 2014. If this stumbles Kenya faces grave risks of loosing its market share to other flower producing countries like Ethiopia, Ecuador, Columbia among others. This also applies to other products like fruits, vegetables, fish and others.
