The Ministry of Sports, Culture and the Arts organized a breakfast meeting at the National Museum to appraise stakeholders on the state of the preparedness for the showcase, planned activities and the way forward for the Smithsonian Folklife Festival 2014. The Kenya Flower Council was represented in the meeting.
Kenya will be the feature Country at the Smithsonian Forklife Festival scheduled to take place from 25th June to 6th July 2014 at the National Mall in Washington DC. The Kenya Country program titled Kenya Mambo Poa! will be a massive showcase featuring Kenya’s uniqueness as a nation of diverse people.
Kenya has negotiated the inclusion of |Kenya themed ‘exhibitions across nine Smithsonian institution Museum. It is envisaged that in that position Kenya’s visibility will be increased making it the top of mind-choice for investors and tourists. This is the first time that a country has been featured across all National Museums in Washington during and after the festival.
The event averages more than a million visitors every year. The US is Kenya’s largest trading partner after the EU with exports totaling Kshs 26.4 billion in 2012. Total exports from USA to Kenya in 2012 stood at Kshs 65.9 billion.
