Xpression Flora ltd. Visit

Xpressions Flora Ltd., a KFC member who qualified for the KFC Silver Certificate for the first time will be presented with a certificate on 9th August 2010 by the Kenya flower Council Chairman Hon. Erastus Mureithi. Located in Njoro Nakuru, the farm grows roses with their market in Netherlands. The farm has a workforce of over 450 employees under Mr. Inderaj Nain the Managing Director.

VAT refunds

The Kenya Flower Council is still doing a follow up on VAT refunds for growers who are not exporting directly. We will keep you informed on the progress.

FFP growers meetings

Fair Flowers Fair Plants will have their FFP Board Meeting scheduled for August 2010 in Kenya. The Meetings will start from 23rd to 25th August, 2010. The chairman of Kenya flower Council Hon. Erastus Mureithi and Chief Executive Officer Jane Ngige will represent Kenya Flower Council. During the same, there will be stakeholder’s joint meeting. FFP will hold a meeting with the Kenyan growers on 25th August 2010.

Floriculture Industry Executive Forum

The Kenya Flower Council in conjunction with PKF Kenya has organized a Floriculture Industry Executive Forum to inform the floriculture industry stakeholders on the emerging issues in Tax, Banking & Finance, Instruments of trade, Export Trade Insurance, Venture Capital and the impact of climate change. A panel of guest expert speakers has been lined up to give presentations and guide discussions on the various emerging issues affecting the floriculture industry. The forum will be held on the 12th of August 2010 at the Southern Sun Mayfair Inn-Parklands (Formerly Holiday Inn) starting from 8.00am to 4.00pm.

Registration to the event will cost Kshs 5,800 per person and it covers lunch and presentation of seminar materials. KFC organized trainings

Kenya flower council organized two trainings for its members are still on. The trainings will be as follows:

  1. OSH Management Systems (OHSMS) & QMS internal audit training

The training targeting all farm Internal Auditors will be based on ISO 9001, SA 8000 as management and other systems policy initiatives promoting the sustainability. This will enhance production and adoption of a management system (MS) in line with local and international Standards suitable for management and decision making.

The training will be carried out in two regions:

  • Nairobi – 23rd to 27th august 2010 at Methodist Guest House
  • Naivasha – 30th August to 3rd September 2010 at Fish Eagle

The cost of attendance is Kshs. 27,500 exclusive of 16% VAT per person. It includes costs of venue, meals and trainers fee. Participants will cater for their own accommodation.

  1. Productivity training

The training targeting Genera/Farm Managers, Human Resource Managers, Production Managers and Pack House Managers will be on tested and tried productivity improved tools, including introduction to lifecycle assessment (for carbon footprint.)

Venue Changes

The training will not take place in Nanyuki and Nairobi as scheduled. It will take place in one venue Naivasha on 10th and 11th August 2010

The cost of attendance is kshs. 33,000 exclusive of 16% VAT per person. It includes costs of the venue, meals and trainers fee. Participants will cater for their own accommodation.

East Africa International General Trade Fair (EAIGTF) – 18th – 20th August 2010

The East Africa International General Trade Fair (EAIGTF) themed “Africa Export and Import Fair 2010” will be held at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre from 18th – 20th August 2010.
