Kenya Business Visit to Mozambique: 25 – 29 May, 2015

In resolve to secure new market opportunities, Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) where KFC is a member, in partnership with Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and Mozambique High Commission in Kenya, is organizing a Trade and Investment mission to Maputo, Mozambique on 25 – 29 May 2015.  The Kenya delegation will be headed by Cabinet Secretary Amb. Amina Mohamed, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

It is hoped that the government will secure a bilateral undertaking between the two countries. The business delegation is expected    to include sectors like agriculture, agro processing, floriculture, banking & Finance, transport & Logistics, packaging among others

Mozambique has a population of about 24 million (2012 estimates) with potential future market from the young population estimated to be at 65%. The country has a projected GDP growth of almost 8% per annum, and an advantageous geographic positioning providing ideal gateway interesting markets such as Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and South Africa. It is ranked 3rd most attractive African Country for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), according to Rand Merchant Bank (August 2012)

Trade between Kenya and Mozambique is almost balanced though still minimal, averaging at Ksh. 793 Million in exports from Kenya to Mozambique as opposed to Ksh. 583 Million in imports from Mozambique to Kenya. Over the past decade, exports to Mozambique have been on a steady increase except in 2006 and 2010.
