The effective date for payment of the new N.H.I.F rates was on the 1st of April 2015 as gazzeted. However the Federation of Kenyan Employers (FKE) Board is in the process of engaging the Management of N.H.I.F with a view to discuss the basis of the gazzeted rates.
The Chairman and the Chief Executive Officer of the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) in consultation with the Cabinet Secretary for Health gazetted the new NHIF rates in February, 2015.
The new contribution plan to the NHIF is pegged on a gross income structure presented by NHIF and outlined in the gazette notice. The least amount to be contributed is Kshs 150 for employees with gross earnings of up to Kshs. 5,999 and the maximum contribution will be Kshs. 1,700 for employees with gross earnings of over Kshs. 100,000.
