The World Expo Astana 2017 in the city of Astana in Kazakhstan kicked off from June 10, 2017 and will end on September 10, 2017. Kenya will be participating in the expo that will be accommodated in the Africa Community Plaza. The Export Promotion Council (EPC) is spearheading preparatory activities for the Kenya participation.
Kenya plans to organize a Kenya week during the exposition to start on 28th August 2017. The Kenya national day will be held on August 28th while the business forum for Kazakhstan and Kenya business communities will be on August 29th. The delegation will be led by the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Industrialization and Trade.
In addition to participating at the Astana Expo, there will be trade mission to Almaty (the commercial city of Kazakhstan) for organized business to business meetings and dinner with the traders in the Almaty city.
The main theme of EXPO-2017 is “Energy of the Future”. It reflects the preoccupation of the international community with the problem of energy consumption, which is having an increasing impact on the planet. A total of 115 countries and 30 International Organizations have confirmed participation in the exposition. It is expected that the exhibition will be visited by 2 million tourists, and the total number of visits will be about 5 million.
